Hosting Company 2012 Plan

Finding a more reputable web hosting company for the year 2012 should be a priority for your online site or web business. If you are not actively seeking a company that will reduce the amount of downtime while building strong communication with you, then you should be. Even if you are happy with your existing plan, it is always good business to take a step out there and to see what other options there are. At the very least, it will give you better bargaining power with your current provider, and at the most, it can open up a superior contact to bolster your web holdings. Here are the main reasons why you should make 2012 the year to switch over to more reputable web hosting.

1) Technology is constantly changing.
This simple statement has very complex effects on you and your business. If you are with a provider that you like in terms of price and present performance, be careful about how often they upgrade their hardware and software platforms. Online predators are constantly adapting to new technology, finding ways to turn it for their own gain, and if your hosting provider is not proactive, then you could very soon see yourself at the mercy of a hacker or spammer. This can cause your business some serious setbacks as you move forward.

2) Prices are growing ever more competitive.
There are many hosting providers that can offer you the same if not better service than you are getting now without the high prices. Your company should always be finding newer and cheaper ways of doing business without sacrificing quality as a result. While there is a lot of noise in the marketplace right now, only the few will be able to adapt to business changes. To know whether or not you’ve got a good one, you should pay attention to how long they have been in business as well as what their current customers are saying about them. It would also not hurt to track down someone, who left the provider, to get their take. No business is perfect, but if there are continuing problems, then that should serve as a warning flag.

3) Customer appreciation is important.
If you have been paying the same price for years without any sign of incentives to stay with the plan other than the simple day to day offerings, then you should be leery of staying with your current provider. Good companies appreciate their customers, and they do not forget about you the moment you go with their business solution.

Once you have found a company that can take all three of the above factors seriously, then it is time to make the switch.

So who is the best website host? With such a variety of potential hosts, all preaching basically the same benefits, it can be difficult to decide which to use. For the sake of time, I am going to give a quick review of the two hosts that I would recommend to nearly 95% of people. They are Business Hosting.

Comparing Features
You are going to receive just about the same exact feature from both hosts. They both offer the cPanel dashboard, with site builders such as Fantastico and Simple Scripts. Both support Ruby on Rails and PHP5. They offer unlimited bandwidth, unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited storage, unlimited FTP accounts and much more. You can look through the compatibility documents of each host to make sure they will support your needs prior to buying a package.

Perhaps the biggest difference in features has to do with Hosting not offering reseller or dedicated hosting, while Hosting offers a variety of packages that includes reseller and dedicated hosting accounts.

Comparing Pricing
The pricing structures for hosting are pretty simple. Hosting shared plans start at around $4.95/mo and go up to $14.95/mo. Hosting’s reseller hosting plans start at $24.95/mo and get up to $99.95/mo. Finally their dedicated servers start at $174/mo and can reach prices such as $375/mo.

Business Hosting simply offers one plan: shared hosting. This plans comes with a minimum commitment of 1 year. Like Business Hosting offers unlimited features on just about everything. Though since business hosting only offers shared plans, if they feel that a user is abusing their unlimited feature rights, so they don’t adversely affect the other users.

What you will pay for each hosting company.
Basically, as the companies work it out in their marketing plans, they each offer the same price for 1 YEAR of hosting. That is if you make it to one year. Clearly Business Hosting offers a more flexible plan and is why they are able to convert more people. Business Hosting is also the cheaper choice in the long run. Though don’t forget to search for coupons and promos that each company offers quite regularly. In the end, Business Hosting takes the cake for best pricing options.

Comparing Customer Support.
I have used hosting for several of my accounts for years. They have typically given me good service, though occasionally I have had to deal with the ‘he says, she says’ and have had to go between several different third parties until I got an answer. Don’t get me wrong, Hosting reps know their stuff, but they can be pretty rude if the type of question doesn’t fall exactly within their scope of support. Their online support such as email and ticket questions can be a nightmare as there are WAY too many options.

Business Hosting offer virtually the same type of support. They do offer live chat, which is a nice feature that you can use for more basic questions. Overall I would have to say the support really comes down to the person that answers the call, not necessarily on the company.
